Unwrapping Your Flowers

All of our flowers are imported directly from their site of cultivation in Holland, they are then conditioned, cleaned and arranged in either a bouquet or other beautiful floral arrangements by our talented expert florists here at Aberdeenshire Flowers. We want to ensure that all of the arrangements we supply to our customers use the freshest quality of flowers, so we advise that your flowers may take up to 48 hours to fully bloom. The extreme freshness of your flowers means that they will last up to twice as long so that you or your recipient can admire them for as long as possible. Of course, due to the different types of flowers that we supply, some will bloom earlier than others. Please be sure to remove any extra foliage if you are putting the flowers in one of your own vases, because if the foliage is left on and sits in the water this will increase the bacteria which will affect the flowers as the water is infested. The gerbera, as beautiful as it is, is quite vulnerable to an overflowing amount of bacteria in water.

Aberdeenshire Flowers suggest that you should always freshly cut your flowers before placing them into a vase of your own, this will allow the stems to take in a large amount of water, ensuring that your flowers are as vibrant and stunning as possible. If the stems of your flowers are dry the water will not reach the flowers. This is why you should cut them regularly to ensure that they will not become dehydrated. We advise that you cut the stems at an angle and at about 2cm above the end of the stem to produce the best results and ensure long lasting freshness. Although it has been common to smash the end of stems to increase water flow, we advise against this as it may damage the vessels within the stems which in turn will have an effect on the flowers' ability to absorb the water.

Arranging your Aberdeenshire flowers

Once you have unwrapped your flowers you can prepare them to be placed in a beautiful vase of your choosing. We can arrange your flowers in a vase for you, which will be provided by ourselves at little extra cost, to save you the time of arranging the flowers yourself. To ensure best results, ensure that the vase or container is clean and filled with lukewarm water so as to aid the flow of water through the stem of the flower. Aberdeenshire Florists will also provide a care packet along with your delivery that consists of a little care booklet advising you on how to care for your flowers and a sachet of flower food to promote growth. It would be best to add the sachet of flower food to the container before adding your flowers, and then make sure that the water does not reach the foliage as this will increase the rate of the bacteria that will form within the water.

Temperature and Display Area

Aberdeenshire Florists suggest that you keep your flowers at a temperature of 18-22 Celsius at most. Flowers left in high temperatures will often wilt and they can also be damaged in colder temperatures due to frost. If your flowers are kept in a cooler place then they will last longer, especially if they are kept away from direct sunlight and any warm areas, for example near a radiator. If you leave your flowers somewhere too warm then they will become damaged and withered.
